#1—Professional Composter
We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented individual to assist with collecting and processing food scraps, yard waste, and pet waste for ~10 hours per week. This is a unique opportunity to make a positive impact on our community's environment by diverting waste from landfills and promoting sustainability. ​ Responsibilities: * Collect food scraps, yard waste, and pet waste from designated locations * Sort and transport collected materials to the Dirt Wain compost site * Maintain accurate records of collections and deliveries * Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient and effective operations * Perform occasional cleaning and maintenance tasks as needed Requirements: * Ability to lift and/or move heavy objects: ~50 lbs * Openness to learning to drive our tractor * Valid driver's license  and clean driving record * Physical ability to work in various outdoor environments; we work outdoors year round * Attention to detail and ability to follow instructions * Strong communication and teamwork skills * Ability to work independently and as part of a team * Ability to deal with challenges of position: getting dirty, working with smelly compost, putting up with the insects that also like the compost ​ Preferred Qualifications: * Experience with waste collection or related fields * Knowledge of sustainable practices and environmental principles * Familiarity with local regulations and guidelines related to waste management What We Offer: * Competitive hourly rate * Opportunities for professional growth and development * A sense of fulfillment from contributing to a vital community service How to Apply: If you are passionate about sustainability and committed to making a positive impact, please submit your application, including: * Resume or summary of relevant experience * Cover letter highlighting your qualifications and interest in the position * Contact information for at least two professional references ​ Submit your application using the form below. #2—Outreach Coordinator
We are seeking an outgoing, self-motivated individual to grow Dirt Wain's customer base and represent us throughout the community. This is a unique opportunity to make a positive impact on our community's environment by diverting waste from landfills and promoting sustainability—while building a role that funds itself through the new business you generate. ​ Responsibilities: * Set up and staff the Dirt Wain booth (canopy, table, banner, etc.) at the YLNI Farmers Market each Saturday during the outdoor market season * Sign up new customers and grow sales; this is a core part of the position and is expected to self-fund the role - you get a commission on each new account. * Help develop and distribute promotional materials, including yard signs, postcards, and similar items * Create and publish social media content, working closely with Dirt Wain staff—one post daily, Monday through Friday * Table at area events related to Dirt Wain, the environment, sustainability, and community engagement * Attend monthly sales team meetings and training Requirements: * Comfortable approaching and talking with the public; strong communication and interpersonal skills * Reliable availability on Saturdays during the outdoor market season * Ability to set up and tear down booth equipment (canopy, table, banner, etc.) * Self-motivated and able to work independently and as part of a team * Valid driver's license and reliable transportation * Attention to detail and ability to follow through on commitments Preferred Qualifications: * Experience in sales, outreach, marketing, or community engagement * Experience creating social media content for organizations * Knowledge of sustainable practices and environmental principles * Familiarity with the Fort Wayne / northeast Indiana community What We Offer: * Competitive hourly rate * Opportunities for professional growth and development * A sense of fulfillment from contributing to a vital community service How to Apply: If you are passionate about sustainability and committed to making a positive impact, please submit your application, including: * Resume or summary of relevant experience * Cover letter highlighting your qualifications and interest in the position * Examples of social media posts you have created for organizations, or a sample post you've made for Dirt Wain * Contact information for at least two professional references Submit your application using the form below.
